Piano practice rooms in Chicago
Chicago is one of the easier US cities for acoustic practice if you know the Harold Washington Library rooms and a couple of Fine Arts Building studios.
Practice rooms are the focus below. Full coverage lives on our Chicago directory and practice-rooms page.
Free: Harold Washington Library
The 8th floor of Harold Washington Library Center has six practice rooms with upright pianos and a chamber room with a baby grand for small ensembles. Chicago Public Library lets you reserve up to a week ahead (and welcomes walk-ins if a room is free). Bring photo ID. Amplifiers and drums are not allowed; your own acoustic instruments are fine.
